We chose the Akasaka Excel Hotel Tokyu as we had previously stayed here and found the location very convenient.  This hotel is not part of any major hotel loyalty programs but we were not interested in using points for hotel awards on this trip.  We did earn Ultimate Rewards by booking on hotels.com through the Ultimate Rewards shopping portal.

Although the Akasaka Excel Hotel Tokyu is a nice business hotel, the real value is its location.  Location is always our number one factor when choosing a hotel but it was especially important this time as we were visiting Tokyo in the middle of winter.

Location

The hotel, a part of the Akasaka Tokyu Plaza, is across the street from the Akasaka-Mitsuke subway station.  The subway station has underground access to five different lines.

There is a 7-11 with indoor access on the ground floor of the building so we were easily able to buy water and use the ATM.

A number of restaurants are located in the Akasaka Tokyu Plaza and surrounding area.

The hotel is also a stop on the Airport Limousine bus route so transport to/from the airport is super easy.

Room

Our room was small but packed a lot of amenities.

We loved the mini fridge in the room.  There were some drinks already in there but there was still plenty of room for our own drinks.

Bathroom

Though small, the bathroom included a lot of amenities: shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower caps, slippers, razors, toothpaste, toothbrush and even hair bands!

The toilet was a washlet – a combination toilet and spray bidet.  As is the case with many in Japan, it was also heated and self-flushing.
