Update: This promotion has ended.

American Airlines currently has a limited time offer where members of the American Airlines AAdvantage frequent flyer program can earn 7,500 free miles for test driving a Cadillac.  I “completed” my test drive yesterday and will hopefully receive my 7,500 miles in a few weeks.

If you have not already scheduled your test drive, here is my experience:

Scheduling a Test Drive

There are two ways to schedule the Cadillac test drive:

1.  Call a Cadillac Concierge at 844-469-2234 (as stated on the offer page)  OR
2.  Use the chat online feature on Cadillac.com

Although the link to the offer only mentions calling Cadillac, some people reported long hold times when calling but were able to schedule a test drive using the online chat. I chose to use the online chat and there was no wait time.

I was asked to provide the following information in order to schedule my test drive:

  • Name, full address, email address and phone number
  • AAdvantage number
  • How I found out about the promotion
  • If I had a particular dealer I wanted to go to and what time
  • If I was planning on purchasing or leasing my next vehicle
  • When I was planning on leasing my next vehicle
  • What Cadillac model I would like to test drive (I had no preference so a model was suggested for me)
  • What vehicle do I currently drive?

During the online chat I was told, “once the test drive is completed, the dealer will enter your participation on the website, and upon confirmation, the miles will be applied to your AAdvantage account within 4-6 weeks. An email confirmation will be sent to you.”

I asked if I could schedule a test drive for Matilda around the same time as my test drive and was able to do so.  This is a good time saver if you know someone that would like to do the test drive as well.

I would estimate it took me about 20-25 minutes to schedule my test drive.

At the end of the chat, I was informed the dealer would contact me to confirm the appointment.  A day later, Matilda and I each received a call and a follow up email confirming the appointment.  If you do not receive a confirmation, I would recommend calling the dealership before showing up for your test drive.

Test Drive

Cadillac test drive aadvantage miles

The customer care manager confirmed she had us scheduled and called over a salesperson to assist us. When we casually mentioned the test drive was for miles, the salesperson said he would give us the miles without the drive.  We thought that was great even though we had prepared ourselves to drive a car and listen to any sales pitch.  We soon noticed he was not exactly thrilled to be stuck with two people who were not there to buy a car.  He even mumbled “so even if I give you a great deal you are not going to buy anything.”  It didn’t seem he was knowledgeable about the promotion as at first he stated only one of us can earn the miles.  After politely insisting we had both registered, he took a copy of our drivers licenses.  We were told we should be receiving emails but were not provided with anything to document completion of the test drive.

I Plan to Verify the Miles are Credited

Honestly, I am not confident that the salesperson did what was needed for us to earn our miles.  Unless I receive an email in the next few days, I plan to contact the dealership to double check.  I also put a calendar entry in my Outlook as a reminder to check my AAdvantage account in about 6 weeks to ensure my miles are credited.

Has anyone else had a chance to test drive a Cadillac? If so, how was your experience?
